I don't care, just don't bother

Don't you ever get this feeling that you're around those people who just tell you things to grab your attention?

To be honest, I think that they should shut it.

Well, anyways... this whole thing started when a person I know spoke about some (note understatement) things at a random, magical family gathering the other day.

I'm not so sure if I'm the only one that experiences things like this, but when someone opens their mouth to speak, all I'm thinking is "oh god, oh god... FACEPALM! FACEPALM! THEY'RE GOING TO EMBARRASS THEMSELVES!" ...Errr... sorry if that sounds a bit shallow and such, but I just can't help it! I'm a human being! D:

And usually, it's those people who come up at a random moment and try to show off. Something simple, like quietly uttering the words "I'm writing a book" or "Yay! I got an A on maths test!" can seriously make you look like a self-obsessed prick. PLEASE, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, JUST STOP! FOR THE LOVE OF HUMANITY, JUST. STOP.

Okay, so maybe some others do care, but I guess it's just when I'm alone with this one person, all they really talk about is themselves to try and immerse you in conversation. Thing is, if that's happening, I really do not want to talk to you at all, and I'd rather stay inside my room all day reading instead of listening to your blabber about the game you are playing right now, or whether or not you have enough money to buy another computer. *sigh* I just don't care about it, mmkay?

Here's how a usual conversation would be like with a situation like this:

Random person: So, how are you?
Me: Great.
R: Did you watch the news last night?
M: Yes, I did.
R: Oh really?
M: Yes, why?
R: It was a strange coincidence, seeing as the topics on the news report were the same as the themes in my current essay.
M: Really?
R: Yes, they were... *starts blabbing about essay*
M: Hmmm... okay, really?
R: *Confirms the previous statement, continues blabbing*
M: That's interesting.
R: *Continues blabbing*
M: Wow...

Yeah, if you guys ever meet me, and I go and make one-worded or two-worded comments like that, then you know that I don't really care about the current topic of conversation and that you should change it. I know that you probably haven't had much of a chance to talk about these things with other people, and I'm grateful for that, but know that I just can't be bothered with replying properly.

TIP OF THE DAY: Go get a diary, or better yet, write a blog about it!
